Airfreighted anchors

Our company is specialized in the supply of anchors & chaincables for all kinds of vessels, throughout the whole world. Many container vessels, tankers, RO-RO carriers, but also yachts and cruises have our materials on board. Anchors & chaincables are one of the most important things on board, if they are lost, vessels must stay where they are until new ones have been connected. Sometimes this can become a very urgent situation and this is exactly what happened with two vessels in America.

It was só urgent that immediate transport for four 4 pieces High Holding Power anchors of each about 15 tons had to be arranged. The only way it could arrive within the shortest period of time possible, was to arrange a complete airplane. One of the biggest cargo planes was chartered for this transport only, namely an Antonov 124!

On Sunday morning 7 January 2007 two of our people were invited into the “inner circle” of Schiphol, where we could see how the airplane was loaded. We were impressed by the quick and professional work of the crewmembers of the Antonov 124. Within only 2 hours, the cargo was loaded and they were ready for take off.

We wish to take this opportunity to thank everyone involved in this big project. We are proud to have been able to arrange this in such a short period of time. It is considered as a remarkable job!
